After witnessing the jolts, people rushed out of their homes as they have already felt the tremors on Saturday which caused devastation in Nepal and northern India.

“We experienced the tremors once again today (Sunday). After seeing the devastation in Nepal through television, we were apprehensive. These were the mild tremors,” said Rajiv Sahu, a resident of Bhubaneswar.

Bhubaneswar’s Met department director Sarat Sahu said aftershocks will continue following the earthquakes that hit Nepal on Saturday and Sunday. He said the jolts were milder than on Saturday.

The epicentre, with a depth of 10 km, was at 17 km southeast of Kodari, 110 km from Kathmandu, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

Deputy Relief Commissioner Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra said the department received reports of mild tremors being experienced from across the state.
