Delegation from Indonesian students visits Jamia Millia Islamia, AMU campus

Delhi: A delegation from The State Islamic University Maulana Malik Ibrahim (UIN) of Malang, Indonesia visited Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) to discuss academic cooperation with the university in various fields of learning. The 8-member delegation comprised of Dr. M. Zainuddin, Vice-Rector for Academic and Cooperation and various Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments.

Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, JMI, Deans and Heads had a long discussion with the delegation about several academic programmes and on-going research projects in Jamia Millia Islamia. The delegation evinced keen interest to visit university departments and centres to have interaction with teachers and students.

The delegation split into several groups and visited Faculty of Humanities & Languages, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Sarojini Naidu Centre for Women Studies, West Asian Studies and AJK- Mass Communication Research Centre where Deans, Heads, Directors and Faculty Members had detailed interaction with them to identify areas of common academic interests. The State Islamic University Maulana Malik Ibrahim likely to approach Jamia Millia Islamia for signing of MoU for academic cooperation.

The delegation had on Monday visited the Aligarh Muslim University. In his interaction with the visiting delegation, Pro-Vice Chancellor Brigadier S. Ahmad Ali said that the Aligarh Muslim University is an institution of national importance and disseminates education and knowledge through 108 Departments of Study. He said that there were more than five thousand research scholars enrolled in the University carrying research in various fields.

During its two-day stay at AMU, the Indonesian delegation visited various departments of study and interacted with teachers and students to collect information regarding the academic and research activities with an objective to draw a proposal for signing a Memorandum of Understanding between AMU and the State Islamic University, Indonesia.
