Congress targets AAP over funding, Digvijaya suspects BJP hand

New Delhi : The Congress Tuesday targeted the AAP over allegations that it had accepted funds from “dubious companies”, while party leader Digvijaya Singh said it could be a ploy of the BJP’s “dirty tricks department”.

Digvijaya Singh said in tweets that he agreed with the stance of the Aam Aadmi Party that BJP-led government at the centre should probe allegations of dubious funding.

“I am not a great admirer of (Arvind) Kejriwal but he is right when he challenges BJP to take action against those who have given Rs two crore by cheque,” he said.

“I won’t be surprised if this has been done by BJP dirty tricks department to embarrass AAP. Would Jaitley take action against Donors?” he added.

Officially, the Congress slammed the AAP over allegations of dubious funding in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls last year.

Congress leader Anand Sharma posed several queries to the AAP and asked why it has not been able to file its expense statements for the general elections.

“Are they fighting the polls with money from the common man or from fake companies? The whole truth should come out,” he said.

The AAP Volunteer Action March (AVAM) Monday brought to light a Rs.2 crore illegal funding scam and alleged that the AAP received four donations of Rs.50 lakh each from “dubious companies” in April 2014.
