Aligarh: A student activist of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was attacked inside the University campus by alleged anti-social elements in broad daylight.
Md Pervez Siddique, a student of M Com (previous) and also the president of the Sir Syed Minority Foundation of India, was brutally attacked after he stepped out of the examination hall on December 31.

“I was attacked with belt and katta by a person named Shakeel. There were others too, including Shuja and Fahad, who attacked me. The three of them are NRSC students and have threatened me with death too. I request you to take appropriate action against these persons who have attacked me,” Siddique said in his complaint to Aligarh police.
It could not be ascertained if the police lodged any FIR or not.
Siddique has been actively working to bring back the Minority Reservation Quota in AMU. He also has organized several awareness programmes nationwide on the issue. He was hospitalized soon.
In the meanwhile, after getting the news of attack on Siddique, various students’ groups started a chain protest letter. “We AMU students strictly oppose the incident that took place in the campus on December 31 in second half. Md Pervez Siddique, founder of Sir Syed Minority
Foundation of India has been brutally whacked up by three men. Such type of gundagardi in daylight brings down the reputation of the University. We strongly demand an immediate action to be taken against those three men,” read a demand from a students’ group to the AMU administration.
“Such type of incidents – that too with a person such as Pervez – are highly disappointing. Please take immediate action against these students. We request other AMU students to forward similar complaints for action against these bad elements,” the students’ group added.
