AMU in talks with Stanford University for research collaborations in media and communications

Aligarh: Professor NAK Durrani, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University visited Stanford University in USA, home to 21 Nobel laureates and four Pulitzer prize winners, and held an elaborate interactive meeting with Professor James T Hamilton, Chairman, Department of Journalism to explore the possibility of establishing academic linkage and research collaborations with the Mass Communication Department, AMU.

In the backdrop of the rapidly shifting communication paradigms, it would be imperative to explore the prospects of academic cooperation and research partnership between Stanford University and Aligarh Muslim University so that they are able to meaningfully contribute towards better understanding and innovative application of communication practices.
Prof. Hamilton has identified Cross Cultural Communication and development Communication as two focal areas of collaboration and appreciated the initiative and expression of interest by AMU Social Science Faculty. Prof. Durrani has proposed a Memorandum of Understanding so that academic and research collaboration can become more sustainable and long lasting between the two institutions.

Prof. Durrani also presented a paper on ‘Contemplative Practices and Communication Dynamics’ in the widely attended international conference held at San Francisco State University, USA. The paper examines the dynamics of the powerful synergy inherently interlinking the contemplative practices and the communication behaviour for fulfilment of self, as also well-being of society.
