Sensex down 89 points; FMCG stocks drop

Mumbai: A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Wednesday was trading 88.60 points or 0.33 percent down during the morning session.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 37.35 points or 0.45 percent down at 8,199.10 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27230.68 points, was trading at 27099.78 points (at 9.16 a.m.) in the early session, down 88.60 points or 0.33 percent from the previous day’s close at 27188.38 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 27276.22 points and a low of 27082.20 points in the trade so far.

Selling pressure was seen in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), banking and power sectors, while good buying was observed in IT sector.
