Rome: Italian police on Wednesday arrested three people suspected of forming a terror cell to recruit jihadis for the Islamic State (IS) from the country and Albania, official sources said.
Those arrested included a 20-year-old Moroccan and two Albanians, according to media reports.
Italian security forces, during the operation “Balkan Connection”, apprehended the Moroccan, from the northern city of Turin. The arrested youth is believed to be the author of an IS propaganda document circulating on the internet.
The Albanians are accused of recruiting jihadis for the terrorist organisation.
According to Italian media, the two Albanian suspects convinced a minor of Tunisian origin, living in Italy, to travel to Syria and join the IS.
