Bengaluru: Introducing the book ‘Basava Philosophy and Islam’, Tauseef Ahmed Madekeri, national campus secretary, SIO of India, has said that in India the main reason for having differences is not knowing others’ religion.
The Students Islamic Organization (SIO) of India, Karnataka zone had organized a symposium and the book release ceremony on May 4, 2015 at the Press Club, here.
“This kind of comparative studies would really help to clear the misconceptions,” Madekri said according to a release from A Kabeer, PR secretary, SIO Karnataka, said.
Dr Banjagere Jayprakash, president of Kannada Pustaka Pradhikara, Bengaluru, released the book. He expressed that instead of pointing out mistakes in other religions, “we should celebrate our similarities and this would help spread brotherhood in the society.”
Shivarudra Swamiji, Belimatha Bengaluru, also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the initiative by the SIO and said he was confident that these kind of progressive efforts by youths would help to build a strong, peaceful and moral society, the release said.
Akbar Ali, president, WPI Karnataka, Jagad Guru Basav Kumar Swamiji, Harish Harsoor, writer, Bengaluru, and Labeed Shafi, president, SIO of India, Karnataka were also present on the occasion, the release added.
