Islamabad: The Frontier Corps (FC) on Tuesday claimed to have arrested four suspects involved in a blast targeting the Pakistan president’s son outside a restaurant in a Balochistan town.
Salman Mamnoon, son of President Mamnoon Hussain, escaped the bomb attack on his convoy in the industrial city of Hub on Sunday evening.
Three people were killed in the blast and 15 injured.
Abdul Wasay, spokesman of Frontier Corps, told Dawn News that security forces and other agencies conducted a raid in Ramzan Goth area of Hub town and picked up the four suspects.
“There is evidence of their involvement in the attack on the convoy of President Mamnoon Hussain’s son,” Wasey said, adding that the arrested men were being interrogated by security personnel.
The FC spokesperson claimed that all the arrested suspects were affiliated to a banned militant outfit.
Salman was not injured in the attack, reports said.
Hub is 31 km from the port city of Karachi.
