Dubai: Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni meet is successfully held at UAE which was attended by some of the well-established Alumni from India and Middle East, within varied domains of Business, Corporate, Diplomacy & Governance / Politics.
The annual function was organized on Friday at Radisson BLU, Downtown, Dubai and was presided over by Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor. Kamaal Akhtar, Cabinet Minister Food & Supplies, UP Govt. India and Kunwar Danish Ali, Secretary General, Janata Dal Secular, India were also present as the guests of honor.
The function started with JamiaTarana and followed with a short speech on JMI History and its achievements by prominent alumni Parvez Akram Siddiqui. This was further filled by other alumni Nadeem Hassan with nostalgic memoir of Alma Mater, ideas sharing, future activities and strengthened the bondage of alumnus, friends and families of Jamiaites / JMI Fraternity in the Gulf region.
The Vice chancellor, in his speech, enlisted some of the major achievements Jamia has attained and also mentioned many more that is in the offing. He said that the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an organization assessing and accreting institutions of higher education in India, has awarded JMI with Grade “A”.
He said Jamia Millia Islamia runs Coaching and Career Planning classes for Minorities which was conveyed by the University Grants Commission in pursuance of the Government’s policy of bringing educationally backward minorities on par with the rest of the society.
“In 2014, 19 candidates cleared the Civil Services Examinations”, he said.
He also informed that the university has recently expanded its hostel building for Civil Services aspirants, 400 bed hostel for girls ready for occupancy, 2 more hostels – one for SC/ST/Minority girls on schools campus and one for boys is in the pipeline.
“Due to the quality of education and successful record of accomplishments, the university has received 149,000 applications for admission in 2015 for various courses. The university has deep integration with the industry and 69 companies visited JMI for placement during 2015”, he said in his address.
He further said Jamia Millia Islamia has signed an MOU with central council for Research in Unani Medicine, India to promote literary research and development of Unani medicine.
The Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University have maintained their close tie up since ages and the function was attended by prominent and senior AMU students. Vice Chancellor who himself has been an alumnus of AMU talked about the placement facility in Jamia Millia Islamia premises for AMU students.
The event solicited valuable patronage, support & encouragement by the core active Alumni Nadeem Hasan, Syed nadeem Zaidi, Parvez Akram Siddiqui, Ahmad Khan, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Riyaz Khan, Shams Alam , Kashif Zaman , Abdul Khaliq, Jalal Ahmad, Muslim Ghayyur, Salahuddin Ansari, Iqbal Azem, Amjad Iqbal, Shameem Akhtar and friends of JMI Community.
