New Delhi : A high-level committee set up by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration to inquire into an event organised on the campus, which has triggerd international headlines, has been broadbased with the induction of two more members.
“Professor G.J.V. Prasad of the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies and Professor Ummu Salma Bava of the School of International Studies will also be part of the high-level committee,” JNU public relations officer Poonam Kudesia said on Wednesday.
The committee was set up to inquire into an event held on the campus on February 9 to commemorate the third anniversary of the execution of Parliament House terrorist attack convict Afzal Guru, during which anti-national slogans were raised.
On Monday, the inquiry committee sought an extension for a week to submit its report.
“The internal inquiry committee, investigating the February 9 incident, has sought an extension by a week in order to have discussion with wider groups and the administration has extended its term by a week. They will now submit the report on March 3,” a JNU statement said.
The committee consisting of three professors was set up on February 10.
