Bhopal : Swaraj Abhiyan convener Yogendra Yadav on Thursday termed the Narendra Modi government “anti-farmer”.
Addressing reporters on completion of the Modi government’s two years in power, Yadav said the ruling BJP at the Centre has been anti-farmer since the time it came to power.
“The BJP, in its election manifesto, had promised to serve farmers in many ways but when the party came to power, it failed to deliver on its promises,” he said.
Commenting on the union budget, Yadav said it is aimed to favour industrialists and not farmers.
Yadav also told reporters that the government is not keen to resolve the drought problem, or it would have declared the affected states as drought-hit and taken adequate measures.
Referring to the Land Acquisition Bill, he said the Modi government has shown undue haste in wanting to pass the bill in parliament, which he said, clearly goes to show that the government is anti-farmer.
