Raabta Foundation’s ambitious Udaan Express Project (Education on Wheels Class Room) completed its all-India educational awareness tour, traveling over 8,640 kilometres across the country. During the tour, Udaan Express founder Syed Saeed Ahmed conducted motivational, soft skills, teachers training, community awareness and personality development program for the underprivileged groups in India. It is for the first time that an alternate educationist has embarked on a Pan India national mission to make each and every citizen literate without confining them to the four walls of a classroom.The van had left Pune on November 1 and travelled seven states covering 54 small and big cities so far, teaching them value based education.
While addressing a gathering of media persons at Pune Patrakar Sangha on Wednesday, Raabta Foundation President Syed Saeed Ahmed said, “We visited 54 small and big cities of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, conducting 94 workshops and reached more than one lakh people during this journey. The response has been very encouraging and we will go to the remotest corners of the country spreading the message of education amongst the underprivileged countrymen as part of our national literacy mission,” he added.
Kondhwa based Raabta Foundation’s new project entitled Udaan Express is a state-of-the-art Mobile Life-Skills Training Classroom (MLSTC) aimed at empowering citizens especially educationally, socially and economically backward Muslims and also people from different communities to chart a brighter future for themselves through integrated-cum-holistic development of the personalities and character.
Noted social worker Saleem Mulla said that the underprivileged and deprived class of India stand to gain the most from Mobile Teaching Van project citing that it was aimed at empowering women and senior citizens through promotion of adult and continued education. “Education has lost its soul and meaning due to crass commercialisation and Udaan Express is the only hope left before the nation.Going by the phenomenal response, we are sure that India will become the next superpower of the world through the informal education being imparted by projects like Udaan Express,” he added.The van will again hit the roads of country’s hinterlands after a hiatus of two months. Saeed also appealed to donors across the country to contribute for the noble cause of education through van and said more funds were needed to keep the project going in the near future.
