Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, one of the biggest Muslim organisations in India, on Friday inaugurated a medical relief camp for “Zaireens” or pilgrims arriving at Ajmer from different parts of the country and world for the 806th Urs festival in Ajmer that began on March 20.
A brief inaugural event was held at Kaidu Vishram Asthali that was attended by prominent persons associated with the holy shrine like Sheikh Aleem, the President of Dargaah Committee, Sher Mohammad, the son of Sayed Zainul Abedin, Abdul Wahid Chisti Angara etc. On this occasion, several Jamiat national and state leaders were also present. They together flagged off green flags to the medical ambulance.
Maulana Shabbir Ahmad informed that that the medical camp would continue till March 30. Eight ambulance equipped with medical facility will remain over there for providing medical aids for the needy persons. Besides that Jamiat cadres will be deployed over there and if there is some medical emergency, the patient could be referred to Jaipur for further treatment.
While delivering inaugural speech on the occasion, Maulana Mahmood Madani, the National General Secretary at Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind said that the Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti is an icon of our shared values of the country. He won hearts of lakhs of people through his good behaviour and message of equality.
Maulana Madani recalled that the great saint preached human love, fraternity and strove for bringing equality among human being. He pragmatically showed that Sufism is not a ritualistic display but it is meant for serving humanity without distinction of caste creed and religion. He used to say that true spiritualism is to be generous like a river, affection like sun and hospitality like earth as these three things do not discriminate between species of mankind.
Maulana Madani said that Jamiat upheld these ideals of Khawaja Sahab and for the last 100 years have been involved in popularizing Islamic message of peace through serving marginalized sections of India without discrimination.
He stressed that one should not confine Sufism to mere ritualism but should spread spiritual message of it among human being as this would help counter the current situation of the country where communal hatred is being spread by some fringe elements. He said, “We came here to bring the message of unity among sects of the Muslim community for their common purpose. Last year we installed medical camps on occasions of annual Urs here that received laurels from every section of society.”
Haji Sayed Wahid Hussain Chisti Angara, the Secretary Anjumane Sajjadagan said, “It is a historical fact that Hazrat Maulana Hifzur Rahman Seoharvi, the then General Secretary of Jamiat had helped in restarting of annual Urs and other ceremonies during tumultuous period following partition. He also maintained that devotion of Deobandi Ulama towards Khawaja Sahab is no less than others.”
The event was also addressed by Maulana Hakimuddin Qasmi, the Secretary Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Qari Mohammad Ameen, the President at Jamiat Ulama Rajasthan, Maulana Moizuddin Ahmad, Maulana Shabbir Ahmad, the Vice Presidents at Jamiat Ulama Rajasthan and others etc.
