Title: Managing Editor

Responsibilities
Editorial Direction
- Direct content to be in line with strategic media vision
- Generate and propose new stories and coverage ideas
- Manage follow up on ideas proposed by advisory board
- Monitor and optimize editorial direction for improving audience engagement metrics
Content Generation, Editing and Management
- Guarantee generation of quantity and quality of content in alignment with media strategy goals
- Follow up with journalists and staff to meet content generation goals
- Maintain high levels of editorial excellence in fact-checking, language, spelling, grammar, journalistic tone etc.
- Edit and manage stories
Mentorship of Journalists
- Provide high contact and daily support for all journalists in newsroom
- Support journalists through personal development and improvement
- Maintain high standards of diligence, accountability, and integrity
- Maintain high levels of safety and travel support
- Provide high contact support for evolving stories
Website and Social Media Oversight
- Monitor website and social media content on a daily basis to ensure content generation goals and standards are met
- Work with analytics team to monitor analytics and audience engagement in a constant feedback loop
- Brainstorm website and social media strategies and design for increased impact
Coordination of Payment
- Point person for accountability for all salary and contributes invoices
- Coordinate timely processing of payments by working with TCN Treasury
Qualifications
- Degree in journalism or equivalent
- 2+ years editorial or supervisory experience in media environment
- 4+ years of overall experience in media or content environment
- Ability to work in fast paced, professional environment with attention, to detail and ability to guarantee deliverables and outcomes
- Track record in writing, speaking, or other engagement with issues related to social justice especially from the perspective of one or more of socially marginalized communities, religious and ethnic minorities, or communities experiencing caste discrimination.
- Proven ability to engage with social issues through intersectional lenses that incorporates gender, sexual orientation, ability, age, class, caste, color, ethnicity and other axes of marginalization
- Track record of writing, speaking or other engagement with alliance building of various marginalized groups
- Good interpersonal and team skills, ability to help with conflict resolution, and manage mentorship and accountability processes
