Sri Lanka elect to bat in fifth ODI against India

Colombo : Sri Lanka’s captain Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and elected to bat in the fifth and final One-Day International against India at the R. Premadasa Stadium here Friday.

The match is a dead rubber with the series already decided in India’s favour 3-1.

Sri Lanka made three changes to the side that lost the fourth ODI by 46 runs. Middle order batsman Tillekeratne Dilshan was dropped while Muttiah Muralitharan and Chaminda Vaas were rested for the game.

The hosts strengthened their batting line up by bringing in Jehan Mubarak and Mahela Udawatte. Dilhara Fernando replaced Chaminda Vaas.

The Indians, meanwhile, rested Praveen Kumar, Harbhajan Singh and Subramaniam Badrinath and brought in left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, left arm seamer Irfan Pathan and R.P. Singh.
