London : Robin van Persie and the impressive Theo Walcott scored as Arsenal recorded an easy 3-0 win over Turkish side Genclerbirligi in Austria.
The game in Bad Waltersdorf Thursday saw first run-outs for new signings Bacary Sagna and Eduardo da Silva, reports the Premier League website.
But it was their more established young team mates who caught the eye during the friendly, and in particular the 18-year-old England forward.
Walcott laid the foundation for van Persie's opener in first-half injury-time with a fantastic pass and shortly after the interval scored himself after build-up play by Denilson and Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Togo international also created van Persie's second with 25 minutes left.
Elsewhere Thursday, Brynjar Gunnarsson's second-half header fired Reading to a 1-0 victory over Shimizu S-Pulse in Goyang but it was not enough to secure a place in the Peace Cup final in South Korea.
Victory by a two-goal margin would have booked Reading's place in the tournament showpiece but despite laying siege to the Japanese club's goal later on, they could not produce the vital second.
Iceland defender Ivar Ingimarsson missed a hat trick of chances while Shane Long wasted a glorious opportunity after nodding over the bar from just four yards out.
Irish striker Long was also denied in the final minute by Shimizu goalkeeper Yohei Nishibe, who made a magnificent save.
Dave Kitson and James Harper could also have got on the score sheet after going close, but Shimizu proved equally creative and squandered chances themselves.
Gunnarsson was the only player on the pitch to keep his nerve when he pounced for a 69th-minute winner following a slick move by Steve Coppell's side.
Graham Stack's goal kick was flicked on by Long into the path of Kitson who found Gunnarsson in the middle and the Iceland midfielder buried the chance.
Seol Ki-Hyeon made his first appearance for Reading since undergoing an ankle operation at the start of the summer with the winger's arrival earning the approval of Korean supporters.
The result ends Reading's interest in the biennial competition staged in South Korea.
