AFMI condemns Delhi blasts

Michigan (U.S.): The American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (AFMI) condemned the deadly serial bomb blasts in New Delhi which have killed twenty and injured more than one hundred people.

“We condemn this despicable and dastardly act. Our hearts and prayers go out for the victims and their families,” said Ali Quraishi, president of the American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (USA & Canada).

“American Muslims of Indian origin take the recent spate of bombings with alarming concern and urge the authorities to take all required steps to apprehend the perpetrators of this dastardly crime and bring them to justice,” he said.

Quraishi said that the terrorists have no religion and they are the enemies of humanity who should be sternly dealt with.

AFMI appealed to the government of India not to target any specific community or indulge in any discriminatory actions.

“We urge the citizens to maintain peace in this time of crisis and not to fall prey to the machinations of hate mongers and other divisive forces. The citizens of the national capital have always reflected the composite culture of the nation and we hope that they will live continue to do so now,” a statement from AFMI read.

The American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin, is a North American based grassroots organization, dedicated to socio-economic and educational development of Muslims and other underprivileged masses in India.
