New Delhi : Khurram Shehzadled Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) fight back with a gritty unbeaten 58 as the visitors took a first innings lead of 107 runs against Delhi at lunch on the second day of the Mohammed Nissar Trophy here Tuesday.
Resuming at the overnight score of 143 for six, SNGPL reached 250 losing just one wicket by lunch at the Feroze Shah Kotla stadium here. Khurram got valuable support from fast bowler Imran (36 batting) at the other end. Delhi were all out for 134 in the first innings.
Shehzad and Imran Khalid (15) frustrated the Delhi bowlers and played patiently for the 30 runs they added for the seventh wicket.
Ashish Nehra and leg-spinner Chetanya Nanda, who tormented the SNGPL batsmen on the first day, hardly found things going their way as Shehzad and Khalid did not have any trouble facing them.
Ishant Sharma gave Delhi the first breakthrough when Khalid edged his away delivery to Akash Chopra in the second slip.
The wicket brought a glimmer of hope in the Delhi camp as it exposed the tail. But the hope vanished soon as Imran, who was the hero on the first day with his six-wicket haul including a hat-trick, shone with the bat too. Along with Sehzad, he stitched a valuable 77-run unbroken eighth-wicket stand to help SNGPL take a crucial lead.
