Kuala Lumpur : Unknown assailants threw two homemade explosives at the residence of an opposition lawmaker in the capital Kuala Lumpur early Saturday, causing no injuries, reports said Sunday.
Attached to one of the bottle bombs was a letter containing threats and vulgarities addressed to veteran politician Teresa Kok.
“I view this as a most despicable and criminal act designed to instill fear, anxiety in me and to prevent me from performing my duties as an elected representative,” Kok was quoted as saying by the Star daily.
District police chief Zakaria Pagan confirmed that a report has been lodged and that police found the bottles and nails from the scene.
Kok was detained Sep 12 for a week under a draconian security law on charges of inciting racial tensions. She denied the allegation and is suing the government for wrongful detention.
