Islamabad : Jamaat-e-Islamic Pakistan and Leader of the independent opposition group in the Senate has strongly condemned selling of national land to U.S army and has termed it as almost an act of treason.
Jamaat deputy chief Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmad said that the government has reportedly sold land to the U.S army near the town of Tarbella in the northwest.
Khurshid also submitted an adjournment motion in the Senate Secretariat to raise the issue in the upper house of the parliament.
The Jamaat leader in his adjournment motion expressed his resentment on the claim of the Chairman of U.S Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen that the U.S had purchased merely 20 kilometers from Islamabad.
Tarbella is located at the border of Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province and North West Frontier Province.
Pakistan army’s special forces have also a base in the town, where Pakistan has also built a dam.
