Mumbai: The speakers in the one-day seminar organized by Abu Asim Azmi, president of Qaumi Majlis-e-Shura at Allama Latifi Hall approved to form a Pressure Group against the highhandedness of the police and government. The blast victims, riot-hit people and relatives of blast accused from Malegaon, Akola, Digras and Pusad spoke about the police excesses and lashed out at the government failure in this regard. They also resolved to unite for justice and their rights. The seminar was presided over by President Abu Azim Azmi.
During the presidential speech Abu Asim Azmi said “I myself saw the awful scene of the Mumbai riots when rioters were roaring and slaughtering innocent people. I along with some friends came forth to help and rescue riot affected Hindus and Muslims. We set up relief camps in many areas. Unfortunate this did not please the communal elements and I was charged and detained. When I was acquitted I determined myself to sacrifice and endeavor to fight, come what may, for the rights of oppressed persons”.
He further said that unity and political power is the only way to address the Muslim issues. Muslims will be denied from their justice and secular rights unless they get unity and political influence within the community. Had they have solidarity and unity; neither they have been wrongfully arrested for blast accusation nor subjugated in communal riots. Muslims in all events from Hajj House Imam to Malegaon, Digras, Pusad, Rabodi in Thane are branded with terrorism. If someone is a genuine terrorist he must be executed seven times but it is condemnable to club the entire community. The state government has completely failed to nab the violators and take justice with riot-hit people.
“The situation is that if we setup a legal banner in Mumbai, police remove it because it will disturb the law and order. So does inflammatory banner hung by communal groups not disturb deteriorate law and order in Dhule? The government must arrest and punish those who firstly hung the inflammatory banners in Dhule”, Azmi said.
Maulana Abdul Hameed Azhari the chief guest of the seminar said “Muslims are systematically massacred in 63 communal riots during 61 years of free India. Their homes were flamed and their economic condition was ruined. But anyhow if a youth gets higher education, police charge them for a case and prison them. The result is that there are more than 10% Muslims in Maharashtra jails. “Today Indian Muslims were tagged with terrorism to distort their identity. These are burning issues and we have to negotiate a proper solution”, he urge the participants.
“Muslims are being blamed for every blast of the country while in several cases the court has proved that that Muslims are not terrorists”, he said.
He added that whenever Muslims feel insecure and troubled we gather and just express sympathy and concern without having any proper solution and forum. But today we have to do something. Mentioning Tauqeer case he said that media accused me as the lawyer of Tauqeer. My clarification does not wash then I went to press conference for this clarification. He also advised the seminar men to ponder over the issues and come out with proper idea to fight the highhandedness against Muslims.
A’asia Begam, Khwaja Yunus’ mother mentioned the tale of her son and said that my son was as engineer with handsome salary of Rs. 70000. He dreamt to earn money and celebrate his and his sister’s wedding ceremony. But it does not please the police and they ruined his dream.
She also pictured the country’s situation where high educated Muslim youths are being detained for blast accusation. She asked Muslim leaders to stand together to obtain our rights. She further narrated that she has met Chhagan Bhujbal and RR Patel about her case but no one listened to her.
Dr. Nadeem from Digras said “Now the terrorism and blasts has taken the place of prolonged communal riots. Blasts occurred in Nanded when RSS members were making bombs. They also confessed attacking at mosques during Narco Test. The government avoids taking any action against them and resorts Muslims for blast accountabilities”.
7/11 blasts accused Muhammad Ali’s wife also narrated that some policemen took my husband to Shivaji Nagar Police Station and detained for 24 hours. When I asked reason policemen told me to visit tomorrow. Then I was given a token saying that he has transferred to Kurla. But again I was denied permission to meet him and told that after investigation he will be released. Gradually I lost him and now he is falsely accused for bomb blasts.”
Victims of Malegaon Anisuddin, Dastgir Amir Shaikh, Abdul Qayyom, etc. narrated their miserable stories. They also mentioned the government attitude and police persecution after the blasts in Malegaon.
