London, Nov 7, IRNA, The British government has no intentions of protesting against Israeli restrictions being imposed on Britons wanting to visit Gaza, according to Foreign Office Minister Lord Malloch-Brown.
“The UK has no plans to make representations to the Government of Israel about restrictions on United Kingdom citizens wishing to visit Gaza,” Malloch-Brown said.
“We advise against all travel to Gaza,” he said. “If, despite this advice, British nationals decide to travel to, or remain in, Gaza they do so at their own risk,” he said in a written parliamentary reply published Friday.
The Foreign Office Minister also warned that the level of consular assistance that Britain can provide in Gaza is “very limited.”
Britain’s refusal comes as a Free Gaza Movement boat left Cyprus for the third time, carrying 11 past and current members of the European Parliament are on board, along with journalists, after previously being denied entry.
The MEPs, from England, Ireland, Italy, Turkey, Wales, Switzerland, and Scotland, are on a three-day fact finding tour, which is being jointly organized by the European Campaign to End the Siege as well as several of the organizations in Gaza.
On the past two trips, the Zionist regime has threatened to stop the boat, entitled Dignity, arrest its passengers and tow the boat to Israel.
Israel has imposed an ever increasing inhumane blockade of Gaza, which it describes as an “hostile territory,” since Hamas won the Palestinian parliamentary elections back in January 2006.
