The Scheduled Caste student of the government-run Rajkiya Inter College has registered a complaint with the education authorities in Firozabad district, about 350 km from here.

“In her complaint, the girl has alleged that owing to her ‘dark complexion’ and ‘low caste’, some school teachers of upper caste ill-treated her,” assistant district inspector of schools Surendra Yadav told IANS by phone.

The girl said she was being forced to mop floors and windows and do other menial activities that are meant to be performed by peons and other class four employees. Also, the student is made to “sit in a corner” of the class, away from other students, the officials said.

Yadav said an enquiry has been ordered into the case and necessary action would be taken against those found guilty.
