Kabul : A UN Security Council fact finding mission has arrived in Kabul to assess the situation in the war-battered country, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in a statement Monday.
The delegation headed by Italian diplomat Giulio Terzi will hold meetings with Afghan leaders, including President Hamid Karzai and civil bodies representatives during its stay in the country.
According to the statement, the mission’s talks in Afghanistan would focus on security, good governance, human rights, social and economic development.
This tour is taking place in the wake of increasing Taliban-related insurgency and Afghans’ complains that both the government and the international community have failed to ensure security and alleviate poverty in the post-Taliban central Asian state.
