“The country and particularly the minorities have lost a great friend a great champion of the weak, downtrodden and minorities. He will be remembered for long for his contribution to the cause of social justice” said AIMMM president Dr Zafarul Islam Khan in a statement.

He said that VP Singh championed social justice and secularism. Against great odds, he tried to change the social and political map of India, and worked hard to empower the marginalised sections. He continued his mission with equal zeal even after being afflicted with a debilitating disease. Until the very last, he remained active speaking, working and agitating for the weaker sections.

“As a politician he made a name as an honest political leader who fought against corruption despite all odds and set an example for our coming generations to follow and emulate. He was a true friend of minorities in the country” said Dr Khan.
