Anantnag : President National Conference (NC) Omer Abdullah said that his party if voted to power will review all the cases of the 450 people detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) during the erstwhile PDP government who are languishing in different jails without trial.
Addressing a series of public meetings in different constituencies of the district, Omar said it is unfortunate that the PDP which has been promising “peace with dignity” was the party which opposed the NC’s resolution for the safe return and rehabilitation of misguided youth of Jammu & Kashmir who were prepared to join the mainstream.
Omar sounded confident of victory in the ongoingassembly elections said that National Conference government will work as a bridge between India and Pakistan and the people of Jammu & Kashmir and work toward the resolution of the Kashmir issue and find a lasting sustainable solution which is acceptable to people of Jammu and Kashmir and meets their aspirations.
Omar said National Conference is committed to the welfare of the people of the state and shall strive for the equitable development of all the three regions of the state as also ensure that the various sub regions of the state also get their due.
Reiterating party’s commitment of creating avenues for the unemployed youth of the state, Omar said party if voted to power will fill the 70000 posts lying vacant in various government departments through a fast track recruitment drive with a transparent mechanism and will provide stipend to the unemployed youth till they are employed.
“The employment policy which we have chalked out for solving the unemployment problem in the state, will be implemented in letter and spirit when the party comes to power,” Omar added.
NC President said both Gh. Nabi Azad and Mufti Mohd. Sayeed have not spoken anything as to where they have spent the Rs. 24000 crore package received from the Govt. of India for reviving the economy and providing basic amenities to the people of the state. Omar said adding that they are accountable for misuse of each and every single penny.
Omar said National Conference government if voted to power would focus on providing clean drinking water, better road connectivity, specialized health care facilities and above all better education to the children, he also promised that the minimum wages of the labourers will be raised from Rs. 70/- to Rs. 150/- per day so as to improve their living condition. He said the party will subsidize electricity tariff, LPG and will open fair price ration shops in every village of the state and 16 items constituting basic essentialities shall be included in the list of PDS to ensure that the poor people could get all the basic essentialities at reasonable rates. He also promised enhancement of the amount of old age and handicapped pension.
