Palestinian rockets target S. Israel, activists clash with Israeli troops

Gaza : Palestinian factions continued firing rockets at southern Israel on Sunday, coinciding with clashes since the early morning with Israeli forces which began a ground offensive into Gaza Strip last night.

Israeli radio said five Israelis were wounded when a rocket fired from Gaza hit and damaged a house in Sderot.

Claiming responsibility for the attack, Al-Quds Brigades of Islamic Jihad Movement said it fired two “Quds” missiles at Sderot.

In a statement, the brigades also said that activists engaged in fierce clashes this morning with Israeli soldiers involved in an incursion into the northern district of Beit Hanoun.

It added that the activists detonated an explosive device in the midst of a group of Israeli soldiers, adding that several Israeli soldiers were wounded in the attack.
