New Delhi: Muslims have been complaining against police excesses and false arrests for quite some time. Now courts seem to have started hearing their complaints with Delhi High Court yesterday issuing notices to four police officers in a similar case.
The Delhi High Court issued notices to four police officers including the Police Commissioner and Seelampur PS in-charge for implicating two Muslim youths, Azmat Khan and Akram Khan, in false cases.
Complainants’ advocate Aditya Aggarwal told the court that the police have not only violated his clients’ human rights but also the legal provisions by beating them unlawfully. Police thrashed the two young men at their house from where arrests were made in spite of public protest. Police also threatened the people gathered there and thus caused tension in the area. Suspecting foul play, the special judge granted bail to the young men and issued notices to the police.
