Addressing his theological students in this central holy city, Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi lauded Erdogan’s decisive and crushing protest against the atrocities of the Zionist regime in the occupied lands.

Erdogan on Thursday stormed out of a debate on the Gaza war at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, after a clash with Israeli President Shimon Peres, saying Israel committed “barbarian” acts in the Hamas-ruled territory.

“President Peres you are older than me and your voice is very loud,” he told the Israeli leader. “ The reason for you raising your voice is the psychology of guilt. I will not raise my voice that much. When it comes to killing you know very well how to kill. I know very well how you hit and killed children on the beaches,” said the Turkish prime minister.

Erdogan’s protest had a profound effect on the regional security and on preventing the Zionist regime from waging another war in the region, the ayatollah said.
The courageous act consolidated regional peace and strengthened the Resistance Movement in the Gaza Strip, stated the cleric, adding the move also led to humiliation and isolation of the Zionist regime in the world.

The ayatollah stressed that Erdogan’s move was also a disgrace for certain Arab leaders who were compromising with the Zionist regime and adding fuel to its conflict with the Palestinian nation.

Nations in the Arab world welcoming Erdogan’s move criticized their own leaders’ inability to stop Israel’s latest offensive against defeseless Gazans which killed more than 1,300 Palestinians.
