Srinagar : A fire broke out Saturday at the South Kashmir Ammunition Depot in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, causing widespread panic in the area.
Lt. Col. A.K. Mathur, the spokesperson of Army Headquarters 15 Corps, said: “The fire is accidental. It is a small incident and we will control it soon.”
However, the army and local administration have asked people living close to the ammunition depot in Khandru, about 15 km from Anantnag, to vacate their houses and stay away from the area till the fire is brought under control.
