Chandigarh : Haryana Raj Bhawan saved nearly 120,000 units of power amounting to Rs.480,000 in the electricity bill last year after successfully implementing energy audit recommendations, a top official said Friday.
The government-run Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (Hareda), which conducted energy audit in the Raj Bhawan had recommended several steps “to optimise the energy consumption level”, Hareda chairman Ashok Lavasa said.
“It was recommended in the energy audit report that there was a potential to save 120,000 units annually on adoption of energy efficient measures with an investment of Rs.1.6 million,” he added.
A spokesperson for the Raj Bhawan told IANS that the office started implementing the recommendations, including replacing power consuming devices with energy efficient equipment, from March 1, 2007.
“The entire investment would be recovered within three-and-a-half years through saving on electricity bill,” Lavasa said.
Hareda director Sumita Misra said: “Haryana is one of the few states in the country where the scheme of energy audit of government buildings was launched.”
“While implementing the recommendations in the Raj Bhawan, all energy inefficient devices were replaced by energy efficient equipment,” she said.
