In the first attack, two policemen were injured when guerrillas lobbed a grenade at a police vehicle in Chanpora, 6 km from city centre Lal Chowk.

“Two policemen were injured in the explosion, and they were taken to hospital for treatment,” a police officer said.

He said guerrillas also made an attempt to target the Rajbagh police station in the heart of Srinagar late in the evening by firing a rifle grenade towards it.

“The grenade, however, fell and exploded in a park adjacent to the police station without causing any damage.”

No guerrilla group has owned responsibility for the explosions yet.
