Couple held for burglaries in Delhi

New Delhi : A 22-year-old woman, her husband and their associate have been arrested here for their alleged involvement in seven burglaries in Delhi and Jharkhand, the police said Thursday.

Delhi Police arrested Kohinoor, her husband Mushtaq, 23, and their associate Jehangir Alam, 28, from Koria Bridge near the Old Delhi railway station Wednesday. Stolen jewellery worth Rs. 200,000 has been recovered from them, the police said.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Satyendra Garg said the accused have performed seven burglaries in Delhi and Jharkhand.

The police officer said the interrogation of the accused revealed that the recovered stolen jewellery was robbed in Dhanbad.

“They revealed that they have been associated with a burglary in Maurice Nagar (in Delhi) in 2008 and at least six cases of bag lifting in 2009,” Garg said.
