A bench of Justices B.N. Aggarwal, G.S. Singhvi and R.M. Lodha fixed April 14 for hearing to decide whether the four women could be convicted for contempt to court for flinging the slipper.

The women, Leila David, Annette Kottian, Pavitra Murli and Savita Parekh along with their male colleague Kishore Parekh from Mumbai-based Boss School of Music were Friday sentenced to three months’ imprisonment after one of them threw a slipper at at Justice Arijit Pasayat of the apex court.

Following the incident, Justice Pasayat proceeded to convict the five people for showing disrespect to the court. But another judge on the bench, Justice Ashok Kumar Ganguly had a difference of opinion with Justice Pasayat on the question of whether the alleged attackers could be convicted outright and punished.

Owing to the difference of opinion between the two judges of the bench on Friday, the matter has now been referred to another bench.

Late Friday, Justice Pasayat acquitted Kishore Parekh of the charge of showing disrespect to the court.
