A bench comprising Justice B.D. Ahmed and P.K. Bhasin reserved the order after hearing the contentions of all the parties including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh governments which opposed the bail plea.

Vikas Yadav and his cousin Vishal Yadav were sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi court in June last year for killing Katara, an MBA graduate and son of an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, as they were against their sister Bharti’s growing intimacy with him.

The duo had kidnapped Katara on the intervening night of Feb 16 and 17 2002, from a marriage party in Ghaziabad and killed him later.
