Lucknow : Two Congress Lok Sabha candidates for Pilibhit and Shrawasti seats in Uttar Pradesh have been booked for violating the model code of conduct, the police said Wednesday.
A case against the Congress nominee from Pilibhit B.M. Singh was registered for using as many as 98 four-wheelers in his procession, against the three authorized by the district authorities, police said.
“Singh took out a procession Tuesday in the Jahanabad area in Pilibhit,” Inspector Janak Pundhir told IANS over telephone.
A case against Singh was registered late Tuesday, the police said.
Similarly, the party’s nominee from Shrawasti V.K. Pandey was booked for conducting a road show Tuesday without taking permission from the district authorities, police added.
The case against Pandey was registered Tuesday night at the Gilaila police station in Shrawasti, some 300 km from Lucknow.
Police said a report is being prepared against both the politicians and will be soon sent to the state election commission.
