Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government will discuss how to strengthen its effort in tackling financial supports to extremists and combating terrorism, Minister of State for Home Tanjim Ahmed Sohel Taj said Friday.

Taj did not elaborate on the proposal that has been broadly discussed with India, the US and some other countries.

It came up for discussion when Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee met Hasina here last month.

“Discussions will be from different aspects, including regional cooperation and logically there will also be the dialogues relating to a task force,” Star Online quoted the minister as saying.

Taj, however, claimed that terrorist activities of the extremist religious groups are under control.

His statement comes in the wake of his senior colleague Finance Minister A.M.A. Muhith accusing local NGOs having foreign funding of fomenting militancy in the country.
