New Delhi : The Delhi High Court Tuesday stayed the Central Information Commission (CIC) order directing Delhi Police to reveal autopsy reports of two suspected terrorists and a police inspector killed during a shootout here last year.
Justice S. Ravindra Bhat passed the order on a Delhi Police plea that the disclosure of the post-mortem examination reports would affect the ongoing investigations into the Sep 13 serial blasts in the capital.
The court also stayed the March 9 CIC order that directed the police to furnish copies of the first information report (FIR) against the accused of the serial blasts cases under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
“Two terrorists died and two escaped in the encounter (shootout). We are still trailing the absconders. Disclosure of the post-mortem reports can reveal information regarding the kind of weapons used and other things, on the basis of which many corroborative evidences can be destroyed,” Delhi Police counsel Mukta Gupta said.
Suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorist and serial blasts prime accused Atif Ameen and co-accused Sajid were killed during the shootout in Batla House in Jamia Nagar, of south Delhi Sep 19. The gun-battle also claimed the life of inspector M.C. Sharma.
