Cairo : Egyptian security forces have seized 250 kg of TNT explosives in northern Sinai peninsula, the official MENA news agency reported.
Acting on a tip-off, the security forces discovered the explosives buried in the sand. They were of the same type used in terror attacks in Sinai in recent years.
On Aug 5, Egyptian police seized some 500 kg explosives hidden in an underground cache near the village of Gifgafa, some 90 km southwest of Al Arish.
Since 2004, three resorts in the eastern coast of the Sinai peninsula, Taba, Dahab and Sharm el-Sheikh, were hit by terrorist attacks, killing at least 120 people including foreign tourists.
