Jammu : Amid intelligence inputs and media reports of large scale infiltration in Kashmir Valley through the Gurez sector, Defence Minister AK Antony is scheduled to visit border district of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday to review the security situation.
The government of India has given contradictory statements over the reports of heavy infiltration of militants in Kashmir. However, the scheduled visit of Defence Minister shows the gravity of the situation which forced the central leadership to monitor the present situation on the border districts.
Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that Antony will visit Jammu on Monday and will straight away fly to border district of Rajouri, where he is likely to meet senior police and army officers and review the security situating along the Line of Control.
The media reports had suggested that number of militants have managed to sneak into Kashmir using a treacherous stretch to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector. However, Indian Government termed these repots as ‘exaggerated’.
Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that intelligence agencies and security forces have been put on high alert because militants have managed their entry. Informed sources said that militants have been planning a major strike in Jammu and Kashmir especially during the on going parliamentary elections
However, with the arrest of one such militant who recently entered with a batch of more than hundred, strict vigil has been kept by the agencies across the state. Sources said that agencies have intercepted some wireless messages of top militants from Pakistan Administered Kashmir with the valley militant outfits.
