K Ramakrishnan, District Judge, stayed the order of the subordinate court after considering the appeal submitted by Intelligence ADGP Sibi Mathews. The ADGP had informed the court that since the intelligence documents were of a secret nature, they could not be presented in the court. He also denied the other allegations made by Neyyattinkara P Nagaraj, who had submitted the Public Interest Litigation, on which the JFCM Court gave the order for raid. Besides, he appealed to the court that a case be filed against Mr. Nagaraj.

The Judicial First Class Magistrate had ordered to raid the houses of Home Minister Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and DGP Mr. Jacob Punnoose to get documents regarding the Beemapalli police firing incident which had taken the lives of six people. The raid was ordered to find the warning reports sent by the Special Branch and Intelligence Departments on an imminent clash in the coastal region, as well as the fake documents and equipments used to create an impression that the firing was as per the order of the Deputy Collector. Mr Nagaraj had said in his PIL that these documents were hidden in the houses of the HM and the DGP.

The case is postponed to 27th of this month, by which time all documents should be brought to the Court from the subordinate court.

The police firing in Beemapalli in Thiruvananthapuram took place on 17th May. Six people were killed and several others seriously injured in the indiscriminate firing, reportedly, without the permission of any superior authority. However, only Muslim organisations were there to talk for the victims – all the deceased were Muslims- in the secular and cultural Kerala.
