MELBOURNE: Australia’s immigration minister Kevin Andrews, who has been scathing about ‘irregularities’ in the CV of Indian doctor Mohd Asif Ali, the former colleague of Dr Mohd Haneef, has reportedly fudged his own resume.
The minister’s websites claim he ‘co-authored’ three books. But the publishers consider him merely as a contributor, Sydney Morning Herald reported on Monday. The publishers credit other authors and editors with assembling these collections. Andrews’s name is not on the title pages. He appears to have done no more than contribute one paper.
But Andrews stood by his claims of co-authorship. “He did not ever claim to be a lead author,” said his spokeswoman.
“He is the co-author of publications that have no lead author, that have a series of chapters written by different people.” Over the past week, Andrews has been extremely critical about Ali, who lost his job in the Gold Coast Hospital for exaggerating his employment in India by three months.
