New Delhi : A 32-year-old man was arrested here for allegedly duping people by promising to arrange kidney donors for them, police said Saturday.
Vinod Kumar, a resident of Uttam Nagar, was arrested Friday near Safdurjung Hospital following a tip-off, a police officer said.
“Vinod used to target people in dire need of kidney donors. He would assure them of arranging a donor and would take a token amount of Rs.50,000. After taking the money, he would disappear,” the police officer said.
Several complaints were registered against Vinod and two members of his gang were arrested Wednesday for running a blood donation racket around premier hospitals in the capital, the officer said.
According to the police, Vinod was arrested some years back for cheating more than 25 people of Rs.500,000 in a similar racket.
