MP CM calls on Wipro chief Azim Premji

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan kept himself busy meeting the leading industrialists in Bangalore during the second day of his visit today and informed them about the scope of investments in industrial sector specially in the area of information and technology in Madhya Pradesh.

While visiting the head quarters of IT heavy weights such as Infosys and Wipro, Chouhan invited the chiefs of both the companies to participate in the proposed global investors summit scheduled to be held at Indore in the month of October.

Chouhan went round visiting the campuses of the pioneer IT companies. He met the Wipro chief Azim Premji extending him an invitation to participate in the mega event. In response to this, the Wipro chief assured the Chief Minister that he plans to send a study team to Madhya Pradesh to explore the possibilities of investments in IT sector. Premji admitted that there are immense possibilities of Madhya Pradesh emerging as a hub of excellence in the field of information and technology. With the benefit of its central location and other features, Madhya Pradesh would prove to be a state conducive to the growth of IT industry, he added.

Premji further observed that Madhya Pradesh would witness speedy progress in IT sector on introduction of international flights. He also told the Chief Minister about the initiatives being taken by the Wipro company in construction sector in Indore and nearby areas.

Chouhan assured the Wipro chief that the Madhya Pradesh Government would extend full co-operation and assistance for establishment of industries including the IT units in accordance with the guidelines of the state’s existing industrial policy. The entrepreneurs coming forward to launch their ventures will not have to move here and there in connection with the clearance of their proposals. Further, they will not be required to face any difficulty at the administrative level.

The Chief Minister was told that the Azim Premji Foundation is actively engaged in the field of education in Vidisha and Datia districts of Madhya Pradesh. The activities are being carried out by the foundation with the co-operation of the local residents in order to improve the quality of education besides helping out the children deprived of primary education.

The secretary to the Chief Minister Anurag Jain gave a detailed account of favourable conditions prevailing in IT sector in Madhya Pradesh. He informed that the IT professionals of Madhya Pradesh would get opportunity to serve in their home state itself with the setting up of the units by IT Giants. Chouhan presented a introduction book on Madhya Pradesh to the Wipro chief. Later, Chouhan also planted a sapling in the Wipro campus.

Prior to this, Chouhan visited the main IT company Infosys based near Bangalore. He went round the electronic city spread over in an area of 83 acres traveling in a battery operated special vehicle and apprized himself of the working of various departments of this IT establishment. He met the CEO K.Gopalan and associate vice president Charles Hakes of
Infosys and discussed with them about the possibilities of investment in Madhya Pradesh.

Chouhan also held discussions with the country head of the Microsoft Ravi Venkatesh. Further, earlier in the morning Shri Chouhan met the representatives of various other establishments .
