“The BJP has a mass base. And with such a party, problems are bound to occur… but the party will emerge from the crisis,” senior RSS leader Madandas Devi told reporters here.

“The party will decide its own course of action,” he said.

Devi added that he hoped all matters in the party would be sorted out soon.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Devi and Suresh Soni had a breakfast meeting with BJP veteran Advani Sunday.

Leaders of the crisis-hit BJP had also held a series of meetings Saturday with Bhagwat.

The commotion in the main opposition party began with the expulsion of senior leader and former cabinet minister Jaswant Singh for praising Pakistan’s founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah in his recently released book.

After that, senior MP Arun Shourie lashed out at the party leadership and dubbed the BJP a ‘kati patang’ (a kite adrift).

The crisis in BJP has led the RSS, the party’s ideological parent, to call for an end to infighting. Bhagwat had earlier said that the BJP would “rise from the ashes”.
