As per the revised schedule announced Tuesday, he will visit the state Sep 16-17 to lay foundation stone for the Rs.60 billion (Rs.6,000 crore) mega project to manufacture power plant equipment in Chittoor district. He was earlier scheduled to visit the state Sep 5-6.

Singh will now arrive in temple town of Tirupati Sep 16 and after an overnight stay, he will offer prayers at Lord Venkateshwara temple and proceed to Mannavaram in Sreekalahasti to lay foundation stone for the NTPC-BHEL Project.

The prime minister will also address a public meeting and review the pending projects of Andhra Pradesh with the officials concerned, said a statement from the chief minister’s office here.

Singh had a telephonic discussion in this regard with Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy and confirmed the new schedule.

An earlier statement said the PM postponed his visit as he was keen to lay the foundation stone for both the Tirupati international airport and the NTPC-BHEL project.

Since the financial tie-up for the international airport is still pending with the civil aviation ministry, the schedule for laying the foundation stone for the airport could not be finalised.
