New Delhi: With an aim to put pressure on the Centre not to endorse the Delhi High Court order on gay sex, rather oppose it in the Supreme Court where the case has reached, a high-level delegation of All India Muslim Personal Law Board met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh last week and apprised him of moral devastations that the order could cause.
Headed by AIMPLB General Secretary Maulana Syed Nizamuddin the delegation urged the PM to take a hard stand against the HC order which scraped Article 377 of IPC by making legal homosexuality between consenting adults.
The delegation told the PM that as a result of the order homosexuals would entice youngsters and youths for their sexual pleasure. They said that the Indian society is basically a religious one and every religion that exists today in the country prohibits homosexuality.
The PM assured the delegation that the stand of the Central Government on the issue in the Supreme Court will be one and in accordance with the culture, civilization and moral values of India.
Meanwhile, Central Government has announced that it is leaving the issue on the Supreme Court.
