Vaibhav and his accomplice tried to abduct Mohan Lal who was returning to his home near sector-16 Rohini late Tuesday, police said.

They said the accused asked him to accompany them for questioning in a case. They told him that they were sub-inspectors and he should come with them in their Honda City car.

“Mohan Lal sat in their vehicle but as the accused did not take him to a police station, he became suspicious and started screaming, calling for help,” said a police officer.

“Police in a PCR (police control room) vehicle, which was passing by, heard his screams and stopped the car. One of the accused managed to flee while Vaibhav was nabbed,” the officer added.

Police suspect two more people are involved in the abduction attempt.
