Asked to react to Home Minister P. Chidambaram’s statement about the state’s law and order situation, Bose said: “Law and order is the state’s subject. I think our government is seriously looking into it. And it’s doing quite well in that.”

“If the state government seeks any help from the centre, I think, the centre should also step forward and help them out,” he said.

Chidambaram Thursday asked the state government to strictly ensure the law and order in the state, irrespective of provocation for political violence.

The minister said that he had spoken to Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on the issue.
